This page includes the original sleeve notes from The Unravelling of Travelling. Due to the costs associated with producing CD booklets, this album has only ever been released as a slimline CD, with the sleeve notes available online.
Although I released Hidden in the Beyond (a remix of my first album) in January 2007, it seems like such a long time since my last "proper" album. I released Besidewalk Plight in June 2006.
So much has happened since then. We arranged my visa, quit our jobs in the UK, said our farewells and moved to the land of Oz.
The Unravelling of Travelling contains a number of references to this major change in our lives.
Most of this album was written in February 2007, when I participated in FAWM - i.e. February Album Writing Month. The whole point is to write 14 songs in 28 days.
Not only did I manage to get the first track on the site when it opened for business, I also wrote my quota of tracks in just 16 days. I managed to write a further 2 tracks before the end.
12 of the 16 tracks I wrote for FAWM 2007 appear on this album. I was going to work on my fifth album as part of FAWM 2008, but due to a lack of time I abandoned this idea.
As I write this, my fourth album is complete. However, the artwork isn't ready yet. It should be ready soon. You don't usually see albums from me this quickly, so enjoy it while it lasts!
This album is dedicated to our family and friends in the UK. We are much happier in Australia than we were in the UK, we just wish we didn't have to leave everyone behind. We're glad we have the Internet and the phone!
